SKY Academy Interact Club

At SKY Academy - the Y's public, tuition-free Sarasota County charter middle school - we focus on much more than "reading, writing and arithmetic." We're focused on raising, healthy, smart teens who also understand the Y's values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The values are modeled daily in our classrooms, and in our extracurricular activities, like Interact.

More than 45 SKY students are involved in Interact, a club for youth ages 12-18 who want to connect with others in their community or school.

Interact clubs organize at least two service projects a year: one that benefits their community and one that encourages international understanding. The club's motto is "Service Above Self."

So far this year our SKY students have rang the bell for the Salvation Army, sang Christmas carols at Clare Bridge, had a garage sale to raise money for the United Way (and participated in its Walk-A-Thon), and have a team for Relay for Life. Many more activities are planned.
