[FORT MYERS, FLA., March 12, 2012] – The Fort Myers YMCA and the Heights Foundation are launching a new literacy comprehension program at the Heights Summer Camp program.

The program will begin June 11th for children in early elementary school grades. It is based on the state-wide YMCA READS! program, which focuses on reading skills and students understanding what they read. The program will be taught in English and Spanish.

“We saw there was a need for extra tutoring in reading, and we think it’s our responsibility to address that need,” said Pat Ryan, chief operating officer for the YMCA.

There is no cost for Heights students to take part in the program. For more information, contact 239-482-7706.
